About Poleno

Poleno is a group of young students, lovers of Slovak traditional dancing, songs and music. They are students from Bratislava high schools and universities. They are between the ages of 15 – 35. There are about 25 dancers and singers and 5 musicians, playing various string instruments and accordion.

The repertoire consists of separate dances and songs, which have their origin in the various parts of Slovakia and which are based on our rich folklore heritage. The most characteristic features of our 90 minutes’ programme are: fast and dynamic footwork, vivid choreographic patterns, a light-hearted style, natural image and vitality of youngsters and colorful national costumes.
